When the Barre is being used for fitness/exercise, whether it’s for Single, Double or Waistrail Brackets, we recommend positioning a Bracket every 1m to 1.3m (max) spacing.

The general rule for fitness use is “the shorter the Barre: the stronger the Barre” and therefore the greater level of support. If, however, the Barre is being used purely for ballet/dance (and not fitness/exercise), then the Brackets can be positioned up to 2m apart (though we don’t recommend it and will always suggest 1.5m spacing).

When installing a run of Brackets & Barres, we also recommend that you allow a 2-3” overhang of the Barre at the two extreme ends of the run. Whilst this is purely for aesthetic purposes, it does give a nice uniform look to the overall installation.

Barre heights can be tricky! We are generally asked to set Single Barre heights at around 950mm to 1000mm for fitness use and 950mm to 1150mm if used for Ballet/Dance (this is measured from finished floor to the tops of the Barre/s).

Our Double and Waistrail Brackets are manufactured with 200mm between the top of the upper Barre and the top of the lower Barre. We always recommend that you have a discussion with regard to preferred Barre height/s and establish whether the Barre is being used purely for dance/ballet or more for fitness/exercise use as it can be difficult to alter this following an installation.
